Let's Talk Crystals: Black Tourmaline

Let’s talk crystals!

When I first started exploring crystals, I was drawn to both the scientific elements that explained the importance of vibrations and energy AND my personal experience in how they improved how I felt in my daily life.

Black Tourmaline is no exception when it comes to having scientific uses and is probably in more things you use in your mundane life than you realize like hair straighteners and blow dryers. Tourmaline styling tools use both negative ions and infrared heat to dry your hair, which is supposed to minimize frizz and damage to your hair. Tourmaline can also be found in certain types of water bottles and pitchers to help ionize or alter pH levels.

Black Tourmaline is a powerful crystal spiritually speaking as well.

When it comes to energy work, many people use Black Tourmaline to dispel or release negativity, reduce stress or tension, protect against negative energy, and more. Many also utilize Black Tourmaline to metaphysically minimize the negative impact of electromagnetic frequencies, radiation, and other shield against other similar unseen forces.

It’s a stone that is powerful when worn or kept in prominent areas in your home, especially if you’re frequently around a lot of people or having people come and go from your house on a regular basis that may be carrying a lot of outside energies with them.

Authenticity and Ethical Sourcing

Of course, with any stone you’re purchasing or collecting for its energetic uses, you’ll want to consider if it’s a real earth-formed stone, as well as if it was ethically sourced, which takes into consideration how it was collected from Mother Nature, if the people who were mining for the stones were fairly compensated and had a safe working environment, and so on. All of these things are taken into consideration at Cassie’s Chrysalis, and that’s why we only partner with local, small, or family-owned businesses that we come to personally know and trust.
